Wall Drug, Wall, SD

The billboards start from more than 50 miles away advertising everything from cowboy gear to 6 cent coffee and free ice water. It’s been here since 1941 and expanded many times over the years. It’s a hard place to explain- part souvenir shop, part western store, part restaurant, part museum, part art gallery…

We explored the different shops and then went to play in the backyard.

Sturgis, SD

The day is not complete without ice cream. Stir his is definitely a Harley town. Not our thing, but now they have been there!

Spearfish Falls

A nice view from the top. The girls opted not to hike to the bottom.

Bridal Veil Falls

We ventured into the Black hills and drove through Spearfish Canyon. It was beautiful!

Colorado

The park was nice. All the state flags were there. We found Colorado.

The Geographic Center of the United States

We have been to all sorts of geographic centers. This one in, Belle Fourche, SD includes Alaska and Hawaii!

Like Four Corners, it’s not exactly here . Close enough for us!

We each chose a direction.

Welcome to South Dakota

A short (20 mile) stay in Wyoming.

Welcome to Wyoming

Stacey, MT

The town wasn’t on the map, but there was a sign!

Miles City Saddlery

All things Western. Ali is in the market for a cowboy hat.

We liked this Stetson.

Ali’s kind of store!

The Montana Bar, Miles City, MT

Been here since 1908 and since Ali loves old west bags it was the choice for dinner.

We enjoyed the original bar and decor and the big leather booth.

The food was really good too!

Rainbow Falls

A nice spot on the Missouri River in Great Falls. There are several dams and falls here eating the city the name Electric City.

There is a faint rainbow on the left side near the hole in the rock.

Main Drive In

Dinner & ice cream! We had burgers then ice cream.

Sam loves making chalk art! This one was at the drive in.

Conrad, MT

This post is for Willie & Jungle… coincidentally the best spot to stop for the night was Conrad. Turns out they lived here 40+ years ago. We have heard the stories for years! Anyhow- we took these for them.

This was the nicest restaurant around back in the day. Not so much anymore.

Blackfoot Indian Site

A beautiful spot to celebrate the Blackfoot Indians who originally lived here. East of the park is actually their reservation.

Visitor center

The best part was the view. It was quiet on the raid too!

Y.A.O.

Yet another overlook. It’s hard to resist stopping for photos at them all.

Going to the Sun Point

The views on this side of the park are really dramatic. If not for the intense wind we would have lingered longer.

Nap time! (Actually hiding from the wind.)

Baring Falls

Another nice waterfall. This one was different because we could get close enough to feel the cool mist.

Sunrift Gorge

An amazing little gorge cut by the water running off the mountains.

Jackson Glacier

A lot of snow now but the Glacier is receding.

Glacier National Park

East side

Marias Pass

The road around the southern side of the park. It follows the same route as the train tracks. Before the road they had to load the cars on the train to get from East Glacier to West Glacier.

There is a monument to Teddy Roosevelt for the preservation of the parks. It’s a. Obelisk like the Washington monument.

Too tall for a photo without playing in traffic…
