Not only does Sheri’s have great ice cream but they also have a mini golf course. The girls wanted to play.

Neither of them are particularly skilled but they did keep score. Ironically they tied. 

Flat Penny

This one is for Aunt Deena. She inspired us to collect pressed pennies as we meandered across the country. There are only a few souvenirs that we can easily carry and that’s one of them. So- every time we find a machine we get a flat penny!

This one was a bit disappointing- no crank. It turned automatically.

Sun!

The morning was very rainy, then cloudy and cold on Washington pass. We are happy to see the sun!

The Winthrop Library

Brand new- it opened last Saturday!

Stinky Bathroom Campground

When we came through in 2015 we had some trouble finding a place to camp. Unlike today, everything was super crowded. We took the only one we could find. It was a nice wooded spot. While the site was great, the bathrooms were not. In fact we still measure bathroom quality and smell using “North Cascades” as the very lowest bar. On our wander from Washington Pass back to town, we went in search of our campsite. We needed a pit stop. It was better than last time, but still pretty stinky!

Cookies

We have tried a few different cookies on this trip but none have been close to Yumi’s chocolate peanut butter chip cookies. It’s a replica of the Levain cookies we love from New York. This was the last one. We savored every bite!

Ice Cream

All the hiking deserves ice cream. Sherri’s in Winthrop did not disappoint. The girls liked the saddle seats.

Rainy Pass Picnic Area

Another spot that was not exactly ready for a picnic. It was, however, the perfect opportunity for a snowball fight!

Hard to get pictures of the kids because they were hiding behind me. 

Lake Overlook

We planned to stop for lunch but it was windy and cold. When the rain started we decided to have a car picnic.

Waterfalls

The park is full of waterfalls. With the runoff and all the rain everything is flowing! This one could be seen from a crazy high metal bridge over the gorge. 

Diablo Lake

One of the three created by the dams that make up the power system. The color comes from the glacial dust that flows into the lake.
